Head Over Heels Episode 2 – The Water Ghost’s Secret and Growing Ties

Seong-ah discovers a water ghost haunting the school restroom. As Gyeon-woo’s death countdown continues, a secret behind his fear of water is finally revealed.

🪞 Water Ghost in the Restroom – A Spirit Resurfaces

Episode 2 opens with tension and confusion as water spills through the boys' restroom. Seong-ah is caught inside, soaking wet, while students accuse her of playing around or peeping. But her nervous glances say otherwise—she saw something in there. A spirit.

Later, she covers it up with a lie (“It was a cockroach”), but her eyes give away the truth. A water ghost is hiding in the school’s plumbing, and it may be connected to Gyeon-woo’s fate.

🌊 Gyeon-woo’s Trauma and Fear of Water

The episode slowly peels back the layers of Gyeon-woo’s past. We learn that he has a deep fear of water, something that started when he was a child. He avoids showers, swimming pools—even the rain makes him uncomfortable.

This aligns disturbingly well with the prophecy from Episode 1: “He’s destined to drown.”

He brushes off Seong-ah’s warnings, but his behavior suggests he knows something’s wrong. He hides his panic and pretends to be fine, but the curse is closing in.

💥 Seong-ah and Gyeon-woo – From Distance to Connection

Unlike the first episode, where Seong-ah was mostly watching from afar, here we see her getting involved directly. When Gyeon-woo collapses near water or looks lost in thought, she’s the one who quietly pulls him out.

They bicker, tease, and misread each other’s intentions—but under that is a growing sense of care. This episode builds the first true emotional bridge between them.

🧙 More About Seong-ah’s Shaman Heritage

We get deeper insights into Seong-ah’s spiritual duties. Her shaman powers are inherited, and she has a strict mentor (her mother or aunt) who reminds her that “the spirits come first.”

This conflict between personal life and supernatural duty becomes clear: she wants to save Gyeon-woo, but the ritual cost is high. At one point, she hesitates—should she save a boy she barely knows, even if it means summoning an ancient spirit to do so?

💀 The Water Ghost’s Story

In the second half, the water ghost is revealed to be a teenage girl who drowned in the school bathroom years ago. Her soul has lingered ever since, full of sorrow and guilt.

What’s chilling is that she’s not just a random spirit—she recognizes Gyeon-woo. Their stories are connected, and she may be one of the reasons his life is at risk.

The emotional payoff here is strong: instead of defeating the ghost, Seong-ah listens to her. And in doing so, she gets one step closer to understanding the true cause of Gyeon-woo’s curse.

🔮 Theme: Fate vs. Free Will

A key theme in Episode 2 is choice. Seong-ah didn’t choose to be a shaman. Gyeon-woo didn’t choose to be cursed. But both are choosing to face their roles now—her by protecting him, and him by slowly trusting her.

The line between fate and free will blurs. Can Seong-ah really change his fate? Or is she just buying time?

🧩 Ending Teaser: Another Spirit Watching

Just when things seem to settle, a new presence is shown lurking in the shadows—a second spirit, older, more violent, and watching from the rooftop.

It’s clear: Gyeon-woo’s 21 days are far from peaceful, and Seong-ah isn’t the only one keeping tabs on him.
